Playing Host and Hostess

Chrisser and I had gotten a lot of fancy serving dishes and things for our wedding, and we decided to make an excuse to use them.  We also had some games that Chrisser loves but take more than two players, so we invited four of our good friends over for a game night.  A game night which included many delicious treats.

The lovely refreshment table.

We played Rummikub and Dixit and had a fantastic time with our friends.  None of us had really hung out with anyone but our significant others recently, so it was a good chance to catch up and relax.

We didn't take any pictures during the party, but Chrisser really went to town taking detail shots of our desserts:

Oreo Cheesecake

Yes, the red blobs are Jello.  I wanted to make some Jello but didn't have any fun molds or anything, so I thought and thought and finally said, "Ice cube trays!" and used that.  Yeah, kinda weird.

Notice the lovely strawberry garnish.  There were like five strawberries that grew too close together and became one, and I just couldn't bring myself to cut it up.

That lemon pudding was actually the first time I've made pudding on a stove.  Chrisser had a box of lemon pudding mix from before we got married that he never used, so I decided to try making it for this.  And it actually worked!  Yay.

Trying to get the cheesecake from the pan to the display was rather difficult and messy, haha.  But it was delicious!

St. Patrick's Day

I love holidays that involve specific colors, and St. Patrick's Day certainly is one of those!  Chrisser and I dressed up in as much green as we could while still looking decent (it was Sunday, after all):

Chrisser's jacket is actually dark green, it's just hard to tell in this picture.
And for dinner we dyed everything green.  Green mac 'n' cheese, green scrambled eggs, green Jello, green smoothies...

Unfortunately I am a) not very creative, and b) not very good at planning ahead, so that's pretty much all the green festiveness there was this year.  Oh, we also watched the VeggieTales short about St. Patrick.  Maybe next year I'll think of some more fun stuff.

Dancesport

This last weekend was Dancesport, a national dance competition at BYU.  Chrisser and I competed together in the West Coast Swing event.  Here is a video of one of the rounds:

Gotta love my friends' commentary :).  And in response to their question as to whether we were making it up: yes and no.  We had certain steps that we knew, but we hadn't put them together into a routine.  So we weren't making up every little movement, but Chrisser did have to lead me into each move because I had no idea which one he would do next.  Which explains why we only did like 3 or 4 moves over and over--Chrisser blanked and couldn't think of any others :).  But that's ok, 'cuz we still made it to one more round, which was the quarterfinals.  Then we got cut, though we weren't too surprised about that.  We were competing against a lot of couples on the tour team at BYU.  And we had a lot of fun doing it, which was our whole goal anyway.
